For the fourth straight year, Orchard Elementary is being recognized by the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at Johns Hopkins University for its efforts to build connections between the school and its community.
Details about the school’s Orchard Owls Are Wise To Read program organized by the school’s Action Team for Partnerships (ATP) made it into the NNPS’ annual book, “Promising Partnership Practices,” which highlights activities led by ATPs in schools across the country.
Literacy has been a consistent focus of the Orchard ATP, and its most recent effort brought in community members to read to students while also encouraging families to read together. NNPS officials praised the activity’s goals and emphasis on helping students grow in their reading ability.
Orchard’s ATP was also recognized for plans to strengthen its own efforts to further engage families and the community in its work.
